NEW YORK -- A Native American lacrosse team has been cleared by the U.S. to travel to England for a world championship, but officials say they are still awaiting British visas to allow them to board a plane.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton granted the team a one-time waiver to travel to England for the Lacrosse World Championships.
The team had hoped to board a flight Wednesday afternoon in New York. But team chairman Oren Lyons says talks are continuing with the Canadian consulate over clearance of nine Canadian-born members.
